The right Super Shox start with the right length. A quick eye-to-eye measurement (plus how you ride) lets us build spring rate and damping that fit your bike — and avoid exhaust or tire clearance surprises.
What “shock length” means
Measure center of mounting eye to center of mounting eye (bolt center to bolt center) along the shock. That is the length we use for Touring, Dyna, Sportster, and trike builds.
You do not need to remove the shock — just take a measurement and round up to the nearest inch. Stock shocks are either 12″ or 13″ fully extended.

Touring clearance tips
- Shocks longer than 13″ in the stock mounts can create axle-nut-to-muffler contact with full-length pipes.
- Premium SR2 and Platinum RR1 with relocation mounts are how many bagger riders get more travel or a lower look without that fight.
- Height change with LT / SL / XSL depends on whether your bike started with a 12″ or 13″ stock shock — we’ll translate that when you order.
Trike tips
Tri-Glide / Freewheeler / RG3 riders usually choose 13.5″ or 14.5″. Most prefer 14.5″ for travel and clearance. 2017+ bikes running 14.5″ typically need the Super Shox exhaust extension pipe.
